So it turns out conventions and costumes don’t pay for themselves, so I’ve opened up a shop and listed a few of my costumes for sale! Most of the listings include wigs and some even shoes (the most expensive part of any costume by far *__*) so I’m hoping somebody will get a great deal and these costumes will find new loving homes. <3

And oh yeah, I finally have a populated DA account! I got tired of cos-buddies linking to my empty account on DA when they’d post group pics there ;^;!! Don’t plan on updating terribly often (maybe one new pic per costume…?) but at least it’s not empty! xD
So this morning I had a little cosplay light bulb go off in my head; since I’m not gonna break myself trying to finish Mami in time for Fanime, I needed to choose something else to wear to Vince’s cosplay picnic majig … and I thought, hey what about Oruha?? I actually made the costume for WCS at Fanime last year, but I never got any good pictures of it (the room WCS was tiny and had terrible lighting, and that was pretty much the only place I wore it ^^;;). The costume has a kinda bittersweet connotation for me, so it would be nice to get some nice photos in a non-stressful setting to remember it by :3
So before running out the door for work I laced up my corset to see if it still fit, and… HOLY CRAP IT IS HUGE!! Okay, I know I was a bit on the chunky side when I made this costume but I didn’t realize I had lost that much weight since then o___o;;. So the costume would need alterations for sure, but to gets pics in it at my new weight just added a whole new level of “DO WANT” for me… xD!
So yes!! New Fanimu goal, get Oruha back to being wearable… I’ll need to reconstruct the corset, and I think I’ll add some more tulle to poof my skirt a bit more, but I think that’s pretty doable even given the short time frame. And I think it’ll take the sting off not finishing Mami in time. <3

Here are some notes on how I made them :3
The base of the wing (that the “feathers” are attached to) is a sturdy wood spray painted silver. The feathers are cut from .080” styrene (bought from this site: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKXW2&P=0). The bolts are round, flat-backed gems that I randomly found in a craft store and spray painted silver. The wires are 16 gauge jewelry wire I bought at Joann Fabrics; the little bolts on the wires are brad fasteners with the little tabbies cut off, and I hot glued one to either side of the wire. Combine all that with more superglue than you can possibly imagine, and eventually these come out xD!
