Angel Hearts presents STARRY!!

These costumes were a result of 6+ months of blood, sweat and tears, but we did it <3! We debuted the costumes together at the Animegacon Masquerade in Vegas last weekend, and took home Best in Show! It was an insanely tough competition, but we are so touched and honored that our hard work paid off… there are seriously no words. ;w;

So I’ve been a little quiet on here, mainly because it’s total crunch time on Starry ;w;!! 9 more dayssssss, holy crap.

I’m currently on the most tedious part of the costume… wiring the lights. All 220 of them. *A*;; At a rate of about 10 LEDs per hour, I have a few late nights ahead of me. BUT at least it’s extremely satisfying when you get everything hooked up and it LIGHTS THE EFF UP OMG FANGIRL FIT EVERY TIME <3 <3 <3 

I also get to be a cool cat and wear my sunglasses at night since staring at these babies too long gives me a headache… 8D;;

Goddamn dem roots ;;  and there’s no way I’ll have time to dye my hair before Vegas, sob. Guess I’ll just be ugly T__T;

So I’ve slowly but surely been making progress on Miki Hoshii’s Starry outfit from the idolm@ster ~ this is without question the most difficult project I’ve ever tackled, but I’ve been working together with the Angel Hearts girls and we’re making it happen *__*!! Right now my costume is about 90% sewn, I’m eager to get that part done so I can spend the rest of my time focusing on wiring the lights… 2.5 weeks to go! GANBAROOOOUUUU…! *A*;;

Finally, a progress pic xD!! Here’s the bottom half of Starry ~ doesn’t look like much yet, but it’s gonna be covered with soooooo much stuff by the time it’s finished xD;;. Figuring out that clear side panel was the worst, I had to take the darn thing apart several times before I was happy with it. I have the pieces for the top cut out and I’m gonna start putting it together tonight~ hoping to have the base garment done by this weekend so I can start on all the light channels… *__*!!

Had a productive day with Marissa yesterday working on our Starry costumes! Started the day with a trip to LA for some materials, then worked late, late, LATE into the night on mockups ~ I managed to get my mockup done and had fun drawing all over it with sharpies in order to figure out my final LED light count, which is… *drumroll*… 296 *A*!! Actually about 40ish less than my initial estimate, but I still need to sew them all on by hand, oy xD;; But yay, now that my mockup is done I can order the electronics and get to work on that soon, exciting <3!!

I said that yesterday I’d be back today squealing about my next project and how excite I am to work on it. 

I was right. I had a chance to take some reference screencaps from yt that AREN’T messing around with the in-game model viewer type stuff, and here you go: This is my Fanime masquerade project.

It’s going to light up and shit. And be INSANELY shiny. (Those fabrics, man….) You can’t tell from the still picture here, but those purple lights “move” in a chasing pattern of blinking. We’re going to attempt to make them actually do that, instead of just being lit up statically. 

There’s going to be five of these fuckers in the masq. Doing a badass dance.

I have literally never been this excited about a masq in my entire life.

EDIT: The total best part of this is that our shoes are platform sneakers that I can actually dance in. BOO YAH i am so delighted (I’ve had enough experience with baaaad shoes to be doing my own dance of joy at this.)

OH EFF YES IT IS AWWWWWN!!! SO FREAKIN’ PUMPED!! 8D

Went fabric shopping for our IM@S2 Starry outfits yesterday with Maryssa~! As a group we had already decided we wanted to use metallic spandex so we’d look extra shiny and “outer spacey” :D!! Also got purple mesh for the light channels and white vinyl for shoe covers and misc details. Also couldn’t resist getting a *bling* zipper for my outfit xD! Just stuffed all the fabric for our norcal girls in a box and shipped it on up to them ~ BOX OF SHINIES, INCOMING!! >w<

This week’s goal is to get my mockup solidified and hopefully make some of the accessory type stuff that I won’t have the energy to make as the con draws nearer, like the bracelets and various bangles that hang off the costume. Only 6 weeks til fanime, woop!! \o/

My next project for Fanime… I’m scurred, guys. lol x3;;
